The Internet spreads false information
Some people believe the Internet helps spread information which it does, but the information spread is often false and unreliable. The Internet is used by people all of the world. People can get information whenever and wherever they want, but do we check the information? Do we make sure the information we are using in school and work is reliable? Most people do not check the information they receive. On many websites such a ask.com or Wikipedia, anyone can write what they believe with no one to filter through the information. Terron Boiling expresses these through his article by saying, "The Internet and social media have helped the spread of information tremendously, but there's one major problem: the speed and quality of info that travels across the Web creates a cluster of junk," There are many examples of where this is true when people write whatever they want.
An article by Cornell University talks about a fake Martin Luther King Jr. quote was on Facebook and was shared by many people through the Internet. The original post by a user named Ms. Dovy read, "Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that." Anyone can spread false information, it is not just spies or hackers. Anyone can do it, and it spreads extremely fast all over the world. Think twice before you use unreliable sources.

Often we find ourselves spreading false information, through texting, social media websites, or blogging. If someone tweets about something that is false and then you retweet it, then you have spread false information. The same thing happens if you read something on the internet that is false, if you tell one of your friends about it then you have spread more false information. Internet Rumors talks about the dangers of spreading rumors and how some people do not realize the information is false when they are spreading it. Be careful when writing papers or blogging, and always double check your information
